Education and learning assessment
An education and learning assessment provides a detailed understanding of how an individual learns and applies academic skills across a range of educational settings. The assessment helps identify learning profiles and inform recommendations, accommodations and supports that align with the person’s learning needs, goals and educational environment.
Education and learning assessments are available for children, adolescents and adults when there are questions about learning, academic progress or educational support needs.
The assessment explores academic skills across areas such as reading, written expression, spelling and mathematics, providing a comprehensive picture of how an individual engages with learning.
Education and learning assessments are often completed alongside a cognitive assessment to better understand the relationship between cognitive processing and academic learning. Considering this information together can help identify patterns that may inform educational planning and support.
The assessment may contribute to the identification of a Specific Learning Disorder, including dyslexia, dysgraphia or dyscalculia, where appropriate. It can also help guide recommendations for reasonable adjustments, educational planning and supports across school, tertiary education and other learning environments.
Following the assessment, a comprehensive written report is provided. The report explains the assessment findings in clear, accessible language and includes individualised recommendations to support learning, participation and access to appropriate accommodations and educational supports where relevant.
